Does the foam feel any different compared to 840 pads?  The perforations look pretty large. Based on a series of experiments to ventilate the 840 pads, bass rolls off pretty steeply from 200 Hz with just 6, 6mm cuts in the outside of the pad walls. I wonder what you and others who've tried Alcantara pads on modified T50RPs think about the bass? Did you have to compensate elsewhere to bring the bass up?

Has anyone tried bluecell replacement pads? They're likely from China. They make pads for most popular headphones. The 840 pads from bluecell cost $7 at Amazon.

Well, I haven't tried them on the T50RP yet but they don't cause any sort of bass roll-off on the HE-4 (objectively). Subjectively the bass is better than the stock HFM velours, probably due to closer driver distance (they are really squishy).

This is my current mods. I opened them back up to double side tape the small card stock squares over the drive. Also to "seal" one of two custom bass ports, I used just the black tar type side of dynamat rolled into a ball and pressed into bass port hole. I also put akasa squares over the other bass port on each cup. Before with the 2 holes per cup, it was way to bassy. I would cover one hole each per cup and it would be better but still a little uncontrolled. If I covered all 4 it was anemic. But if I barely opened 2 of 4 it was near perfect. So now, I hope when I out them together its what I hope, if too anemic I'll poke holes in the akasa. Really really looking forward to all this "fazor" experimenting also. So far I'm happy with how these were while covering the bass ports but there is always a desire for better!

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics by the way.
Almost forgot, this is all with alpha pads. Also I did the ear side mod of akasa cutout exactly like bmfs above photos.
