Should I upgrade my dac?

Hey guys, I'm looking for your opinions/suggestions on a dac upgrade. Right now I have a fiio e7 and a millet minimax for an amp. I listen with RS2i's and HD598's. Is the e7 a real bottleneck in my setup? I'm looking to spend under $250 for a new dac, if it is worth getting.

You will definately get an improvement upgrading your dac.

soundstage,detail,imaging ect.. will improve , the list goes on .

 

a few options which are popular and you can read on this site are ;

 

hot audio dac wow about 200 dollars

schitt bitfrost about 350 dollars but better bang for buck

hrt music streamer 250 dollars

cambridge audio dacmagic 100 300 dollars but getting great reviews

yulong u100 220 dollars

emu 0404 usb

ODAC

matrix cube

 

these are all highly regarded dacs

look into these and see what sound signature you prefer.

What source(s) are you plugging into?

 

SMSL SD-1955 DAC ,sells on eBay for around $100, ordered mine yesterday.

The SMSL SD-1955 can connect with USB, optical and coaxial, so I'm sure your computer comes with USB at least, maybe optical.
