Perfect - I have a pet python. He likes frogs.
She sounds like a keeper, still have her #?
The noise floor on the Lyr is much higher than the Valhalla. The Lyr was intended for orthos, which are typically very inefficient and not troubled by noise floors. Many people have found the Lyr sounds nice with dynamic headphones, but at the cost of noise. You'd be much better off with the Valhalla.
Maybe thats why i never liked when I had the HD-650 and Lyr combo, but love it with a Bottlehead Crack. Although the Lyr did great with LCD-2 and only LCD-2, it was so so with sensitive cans like D7k or SA5k.
I got my eyes on the Audio Gd Ref 7.1 driving the Eddie Current 2A3. I'm not sure which to pull the trigger on first, DAC or Amp I'm hoping the EC will surpass or equal my current 2A3 Monoblocks, and be good enough so I can offload my mono blocks and my 6SN7 Based tubed pre, which could pay for the EC and give me Headphone capability, which I lack now. (Just using the out from a Beheringer FCA202 now).
My focus really is on speaker listening, so I'm not sure the EC 2A3, which I believe is probably amazing with Headphones, just not sure It would equal my current setup for speakers. I just have to put up $2800 for the EC to find out, or perhaps I can find a EC 2A3 owner in the Chicagoland area, that's willing to come over and let me try one. ;-)
I've got my eye on three SS balanced amps. The mjolnir, the bha-1 and the hdvd 800. I've had the chance to hear the bryston bha-1, but not sure which to pick without hearing them.
first world audiophile problems
I have heard the bryston and it is a honey with my lcd2 rev2s.I am eventually going to get one of these if I can eventually afford one. Things are tough once you have retired. You just do not have the spare cash to spend that you had when you were working. Per chance to dream.
