Youtube audio is very distorted?

I've noticed that when there's heavy bass youtube, or sometimes a lot of highs the audio tends to become very distorted for me, I thought maybe it was just the videos, but I used youtube-mp3 on the exact same videos and it sounded fine after I played the downloaded file.  Is there a way to fix this?

I fixed it.  Turn the sound slider down then back up on youtube and the audio will be back to normal.  I guess it's a problem where the slider goes to a value higher than it should?

That has never happened to me, although Youtube audio generally isnt that good. Decent though.  Average is 160kbps MP3 or AAC on a 1080p video from my experience. Although bit rate does not always have a direct correlation to audio quality.

I guess since people use already lossy compressed tracks and youtube compresses (aka transcodes) them again, causing additional artifacts.

AND ....we don't know what the original lossy source came from, who encoded it, from what, using what, and how good they did it.
