Does the BT sound better than the CL version when using the wire?

Finally I have managed to buy myself set of BT's. Impressions - when running of the 3.5mm cable from good audio source they sound extremely good. Good bass and detailed sound. Everything changes when you connect them wireless ! - you can hear compression straight away when using apt-x makes things bearable but still not good enough. Plus they are not loud at all when connected through BT. Compared to RS 170 - BT''s sound better with wired connection but nowhere near as good wireless. I wish they were made in Kleer technology. My BT's are going on sale.

Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried the non-BT CL version? Perhaps you can exchange it to the CL. My local Apple store does not have the BT version on display so I can't try the fit. I do like how the CL sounds. Fit needs a bit help.

I was listening to the CL last night and again today. They are wonderful. Smooth and so free of distortion and screeching. And they absolutely do not lack treble extension.

There is a slight lack of upper mid/lower treble presence (compared to most portables) but this brings out the proper timbre on midrange and cymbals. You hear throat and brass, not mouth and hiss. And the bass rumbles and purrs and has some actual dynamics to it. But the best thing of all is how cohesive the overall sound is.

Only possible downside is that sometimes PRAT seems to be lacking, but really only up to when you adjust to the sound. Sometimes false PRAT is created by enhancing upper midrange, giving a sense of speed that is somewhat exaggerated. The CL sound is akin to panel or electrostatic speakers...they may be accused of not having big "boogie" factor.

I'd probably hate the BT then.

I have the BT & CL now. I agree that the BT does sound very different. I have to use it more to conclude what I like about them.

Different earpads, right? Looks like the BT has "open" pads while the CL's are flat?

The BT are over the ear while the CL are on ear.  I'm uploading my comparison video right now.  Stayed tuned.

Just saw it, nice shoot-out there!  I would definitely love to see more shoot-outs and impressions like this.  Don't get me wrong, love the unboxings as well.  But all unboxings and few impressions gives me a bit of blue balls if you know what I mean...  biggrin.gif
