what kind of cable would i need....

if i wanted to plug in my mg head using my comp (audigy 2) as a source?

Right now i just have a generic black cable /w 1/4" jacks plugging it in. Can I buy a better cable for this setup? Where would I go about looking?

So your running from 1/4 to 1/4? I'm going to assume you mean 1/8 to 1/8 as most sound cards have 1/8 output and the MG head has an 1/8 input. You have a couple of options. If you continue to use a 1/8 to 1/8 mini plug connector I'd suggest the Zu Cable Pivot, which you can get 1/8 to RCAs or 1/8 to 1/8 for about $60 on Ebay. If your card has an RCA output I would probably use that instead and get a standard pair of interconnects, you can use the "best interconnects for under-$100" post to get an idea of what you want.
