Hi,

You can search the forums for Exstata for more information, I'm not all that expert. Basically it's more of a budget amp designed to push mid-range headphones, SR-007 etc. You can try to drive 009s with these amps, but I wouldn't recommend doing so.

Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up !

That amp was put together by me.

I had another exstata hybrid amp at my place and tried it with the SR-009.. its quite decent actually in my opinion.

Especially for the asking price.

And ther eis no way i'd call the SR-007 a mid level headphone.

The exstata isn't really suited to drive the 007, although it does do a OK job at that too.

Would the exstata  be better than the SRM-323s or SRM-007t for the SR-009?

Thank you for your valuable input. I was thinking about SR-507 when I posted, the 007s are still pretty expensive now.

Haven't had much head time with those two amps and haven't done a comparison. Been a while since i heard it too. SO won't comment. There are others who have heard the two and like the Stax amps better.

I actually did try the SR-009 with this particular amp, and it sounded surprisingly good with SR-009.  It was certainly better than my HEV70 amp driving the SR-009, and even that didn't suck.  I also preferred this amp to a Woo WEE on my ZDT when driving SR-009.

It's also great with my SR-Lambda and SR-5 Gold Edition normal bias phones, and pro bias SR-003 and Lambda Nova Signature.  It does a decent job with 007 as well, although not better than my GES did because they both need more power for those phones and wont show their full potential.  The Cavalli Liquid Lightning was my favorite with 007 at RMAF 2012, and the eXStatA was Cavalli's 1st venture into stat amps.

The other thing that the ad didn't mention is that while I spent $950 on the parts to have this amp built, the total amp build was closer to $1450 with labor and shipping.  This a really nice amp, in sound and features.  I'm sorry to see that fangsi has to sell it.

I have tested eXStatA (SS) with Stax SRM-006tII, and it is clearly better from Stax amp. The solid-state eXStatA is an excellent match with SR404LE.
