Which portable player has the best SQ?

I would like to know and also what the heck is rockbox keep seeing all these threads about it. Thanks

Rockbox is OS that you install on your player that adds more control and functionality. I first installed this on my first mp3 player the Archos jukebox 20 recorder. Loved it.

Another option is to use the iDevice + the CLAS and + a nice portable amp.

HM601 is cheaper but still pretty good.

Sansa Clip+ or Clip Zip with Rockbox installed. Best value-per-dollar out there.

II wish I could find the Sansa Clip+ or Clip Zip for cheap here in Canada, they are so hard to find.  ><

Sadly, I've heard that from many Canadians....and that it's true of  all electronics, not just Sansa players.

the best as is will be Hifiman series. idevice will be great if you LOD to good DAC/AMP setup. hence very thick & big

Futureshop & Best Buy have them on sale all the time... $30 for a 4GB clip+ just watch the flyers.

You can get one from B&H out of NYC with shipping, taxes and duties already included (Purolator to your door) for $5 cheaper than buying one locally that is not on sale.

I use an iPod classic with rockbox (love it) silver leopard lod (from eBay) and the PA2V2 amp (from electric avenues). I love this portable setup.

I had a hm601 & hm801. My DX100 absolutely slaughters them all. Its just incredible. Completely cured my upgraditis.
