FYI probably my favorite thread so far here on Headfi.. My wife and wallet do not thank you... 

I'll probably by buying the 

Koss UR40

AKG K240

JVC Harx700 (maybe) 

The JVC and Koss are super cheap on Amazon right now so what the heck, I'll probably waist $20 bucks on something much worst than a good set of cans I can use for Gaming and what ever.

Just tell them "that damned rat and his brood have been around for 80 years, they ain't dyin' anytime soon so shove it!"  Or the economy will pick up and you can afford both.  The problem there is that you'll be sneaking away from the family while they're stuck in line - complaining of indigestion or something - so that you can go back to the hotel to listen to the rig you cleverly hid in your luggage.

how about philips headphones, they are quiet nice but they are not very welcome in this community.

I think the new-series Philips headphones (the Fidelio L1 and Citiscape series) are becoming a lot more popular of late here. It is true, however, that there's a mental black against Philips here because they've never really shown a serious committment to entering into the audiophile headphone market until now.

Seems to me that they've hit the ground running.

I wouldn't mind buying them but it is another headphone amazon feels warranted charging canucks over $500.00 for when it is only $300.00 in the USA.

It has pleather pads though and I only want new HP with velour pads because pleather makes me sweat.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade here, and I DO understand the spirit of this thread, but the 2 headphones I ordered from Amazon here are going back.   It's my fault, really ..... I probably want to be shopping from the "Highly-Rated with Good Reason" thread !

To tell you the truth, I'm having a hard time beating the sound I get out of my amped (I know, sounds great unamped as well)  $42 Koss Porta-Pro!

Underrated are in my opinion these fine sounding headphones:

BeyerDynamic DT 150

GermanMAESTRO GMP 250

GermanMAESTRO GMP 8.300 D

The AKG K 314 buds; $10-30 if anywhere still sells them. I prefer them to the FOTM Yuin PK3 and am flabbergasted that AKG replaced them with the K 315 model (which I submitted to the 'worst headphones' thread).
