Left side quieter than right side

I have a fairly expensive pair of headphones however it is quite old. I recently discovered issues with the left side where it is much quieter than the right. All I wanted to know is if this problem could be fixed by replacing the current jack with new ones. I have done this before because I couldn't hear anything from one side and sometimes I just couldn't hear anything, however this is different so I was thinking that maybe the problem was with the speakers and not the wiring. Thanks in advance.

It might be helpful if you would tell us what headphones you have...my wife thinks anything over

$75 is very expensive for headphones...

I didn't think it would be helpful but its klipsch X10s which is around USD300 i think.

Have you checked the sound port to make sure it does not have a build up of ear crud in it?

Check the balance setting on your source as well to make sure it has not shifted to one side.

 

As you mentioned, cables are usually a works/doesn't work situation.

I've checked everything and its seems to be the headphones themsleves D: If it is the headphones I would just like to have an explanation of why one side is louder than the other. Is it because the speaker is damaged because I find that is quite difficult to accomplish considering they are housed in quite durable metal casing.

Do you have the same problem when you play it out of different devices such as your phone/mp3 player?

Did this issue occur recently or has it always been like that?

like i've said, i've checked everything to make sure the problem was with the headphones. Im not sure if the problem existed prior to when I realized it but i only realized it a while ago maybe a few days.
