Oh happy day! I met a fellow Head-Fier out in the real world!
<TL;DR>
I was crosstown today visiting family for the weekend. Through a convoluted backstory I found myself in the precarious position of not having a decent pair of cans ATM. In addition, various members of my family decided (as they do) to all jump on the headphone shopping bandwagon at the same time. Makes sense as I can help guide them [away from Beats/Bose/Skullcandy mostly]. So next thing you know I'm on Craigslist to see what I could score.
Lucky me, I find this one ad that looks like a Sennheiser clearing house. Txt'd the guy, set up the deal, and went off to the races. I get there and as I'm talking to the guy (and verifying working state) I spot what looks suspiciously like a Neutrik connector. He immediately confirms this, and that he does a lot ot custom re-cabling. Next thing you know we're talking about sibilance, wider soundstages, mid-bass humps, Audeze, etc. Yup, you guessed it, a Head-Fier!
I should now mention that I have never met a fellow Head-Fier in the real world . . . ever. Of course we're excluding meets and talks with members of the trade here. What was to be a simple transaction turned into a mini discussion of Head-Fi related stuff. By now my uncle (who went with me as he wanted cans too) is looking at me like we've wandered into a foreign land and I was the interpreter.
</TL;DR>
It was fun, and cool, and rather unexpected. And now, thanks to FearSC549, I am now the proud owner of a pair of PX 200-ii re-terminated with a Neutrik connector.
How about you guys? Any of y'all ever unexpectedly meet a fellow Head-Fier out in the real world?
