I couldn't wait any longer and just bought a pair. Still looking forward to what you have to say kiteki, considering mine probably won't arrive for ~2 weeks.

Congratulations Jocelyn.
I think they'll arrive to you in less than two weeks and you'll love them.

So I got mine 2 days ago (the mkIIs) and I have to say...it's love and hate. On one hand, I love how more transparent they sound in comparison to my yamahas, on the other hand, I can not for the love of headphones get the damn things to sit in my ear without it just rubbing against my outer ear the whole time...to the point i'm not even listening to music anymore.
It's a shame, I really enjoyed the sound of these things and if the housings were different they would be my go-to pair. What do? :(
In comparison to my yamaha, I prefer the wide soundstage and detail and seemingly very natural sound. I think my next purchase will have to go more towards the analytical kind. Would the phonaks seem like a good pick? I hope to not have fit issues again..sadface

Phonak will not give you any fit issues. The 1xx is a great choice if you're going analytic. So is the Etymotic HF5, ACS T15, or even the ER4s (by Etymotic).

That ABX would be invalid since there is most likely more difference between the Vsonic GR07 and the Vsonic GR07 MK2, there are also batch differences to take into account, and the theoretical application of burn-in, et cetera.
If you want to ABX silver cables, you should commission someone to make a pure silver cable for your Sony EX1000.
A cheaper experiment would be the Fostex T50RP or KRK KNS6400 since they have detachable cables, however you'll have to rewire them on the inside too.
I don't believe VSonic is claiming any difference between the GR07 and MKII other than the cable. Batch differences and burn-in are a real concern, though, so the experiment would have to have a sample of GR07s and MK2s, and account for burn-in. I would never commission someone to make a pure silver cable for any of my IEMs / Headphones because it's not worth any expenditure to me (being a non-believer, or rather a believer in electrical theory). So I'll have to rely on the reports of others. I don't hear any sibilance in my GR07 -- it will be interesting to compare it with my new "old" GR07 when it arrives --- this won't tell me anything about cables, but it might reveal something about burn-in .... they'll be 2 different colors so I can have someone else hand me a pair blindfolded to see if I can tell a difference.

The Etymotic ER-4 is the only IEM which has ever given me a fit issue. It's a little outdated / overpriced these days too, at least the 92% accuracy literature is.

If I recall correctly Vsonic said "mostly the cable", note the use of the word mostly.
Don't you think people which build satellites believe in 'electrical theory'?

By the way, the proper way to ABX the silver content in the Vsonic GR07 MK2 is actually very easy.
While you are listening to it, you connect an extra regular Copper extension cable, why not 10 Metres? This is an extremely easy experiment.
Anyway, when I said I'm excited about the new cable, I meant the looks and pliability, that's all. ^^

I will have to be very careful in terms of fit from now on. I haven't heard of anyone having trouble with the GR07 housing lol. At this point I think a ety-like deep insert like what I do on the yamahas are more guaranteed to me than housings who don't allow a deep fit. What I will say though, is barring the slight discomfort I was experiencing, these overthrew my yamahas in terms of overall SQ...they were deliberately more aggressive, powerful, clearly textured and detailed and the overall presentation had me in awe. As H20fidelity pointed out a while ago (hope I got the user right), you just want to crank up the volume...a tad more...ok 1 more notch ^^.

Quote:The cable is fantastic...why aren't they all made like this again?
They are pliable and yet have a really strong feel to them unlike the rubbery feel..it's hard to describe lol.

I love the cable, it's so smooth, soft, silky.
Sorry to hear you couldn't get a fit, that really is disappointing. I was testing my pair earlier I can picture where the housing is touching the back of your ear. Have you tried angling the nozel? As for the sound, they blow me away. You should hear them through an E10 desktop amp. or portable E11, they go "very loud" dangerously loud. I must keep watch on the volume meter.- kiteki

I see we can't decide on whether to call these MK2, MKII or MKⅡ.
I'm also wondering, R07, or GR07? Who is Visang? Is that Vsonic?
Did they license the technology for these from Sony, like that said, or someone else?

The housing just hits me smack dab on the bottom back corner of my outer ear. It certainly is disappointing since I prefered the MKII's sound sig to my yamahas. It's ok though...I don't regret trying them and they certainly pointed me in the right direction in terms of my own preferences.
I ordered some triflange meelec tips in a last ditch effort to see if they will change the depth of the insert or angle...somehow. Fingers crossed
