This might be your problem.

 

No problems whatsoever with my Nano 4G.  I use it in the car, with iems, with headphones etc. and sounds great.  I listen to bass heavy music as well but no EQ for me.

Are you using the bass boost on the E11?

 

If all you need is bass, why not ZO2? I personally went with the E17, so never got to hear or get it, but many say it's the bass king if all you need is bass.
