Just spotted this. I've been wondering about the Davids; they along with the Master Series are part of VD's new line, they got rid of al lot of the others like the Auditions, References, and Signature series. From what I gather, the change in the line coincided with a change in the way the VD cables are distributed, not necessarily because they are fundamentally new or different. I really wish I knew which of the older series the Davids correspond to, or if there really is anything new in them that would make it worth upgrading my References. Anyway, I know there are others here wondering about these too, so here ya go:

Well they have changed a bit about these cables from the old series. A great deal remains the same I'm sure, but there are some obvious changes (like the RCA plugs).

The master series has been said (according to Hirsch) to be a significant upgrade from the Nites because of increased focus/detail, but keeping the awesome VD dynamics (which is why I love my reference!). I'm wondering if this new line has some new "trickle down" characteristics from the master series, such as increased detail/focus. I love my references, but they are not the most detailed cables on earth (however, they're still very detailed compared to most copper cables).

If the David series is to Reference as the Master series is to Nites, I'd be interested to check one of these out.

"Trumpets, cymbals and wind instruments attained a small amount of additional warmth, yet without any lessening of transient snap or dynamics." This is greatly desired by me.

But regarding power cords generally I have to wonder, are we letting the tail wag the dog?
-"the David power cords would move my fairly heavy components around on the shelf as if they were toys, pushing them far off center. My Roksan turntable’s power supply weighs about 3 pounds, and at one point it ended up suspended in mid-air from one of the cables, like a piece of fruit on the end of a branch."

At the recent meet I held, people saw me weighting down the Creek CD53 with a VPI "magic brick", and putting Mapleshade weights on the AudioMagic power conditioner. They asked me if those tweaks work, and I said absolutely. The Master Series cables can produce some serious torque, and the weights were needed to hold the player and power conditioner in place

Resonance control devices?

In theory. In practice, excellent counterweights, at the very minimum.

My VD Nites are ripping out the IC jacks on my CD player, amp, and HT amp. They're becoming alive and are developing human-like qualities. Cable Rage? Guess I'm not paying enough attention to bending them right. Soon they will evolve to bend on their own. This can get serious.
