You can probably ask around for white box versus purple box M50.

Both of my pairs are white box (one regular coiled version and one straight cord limited edition), though.

At the end of the day, the M50 is not the absolute best value at under $200 in my opinions. There are many headphones I can think of that match it, and some more that beat it depending on many factors (listening preference, source quality, amp, etc...). As such, I don't think a lot of people own 2 M50's deliberately. The only reason why I have 2 now is because my dad didn't want his pair anymore. He moved up to speakers.

its fine, you were just very straight to the point. what is your source?

Using a Samsung Galaxy SII, or my desktop.  The desktop has onboard sound and the other is a phone, which could explain why I think it sounds a bit better with the amp.  In the long run, it doesn't matter that I already bought an amp, because I've got my eye on a pair of Grados 325is haha.

You can buy the Audio Technica PromkII 700. It's extremely bassy IMO. SONY XB 500/700 is cheaper for half of the price and both of them had ton of bass as well.

Amp suggestion: Fiio E17 or ZO2. Having an amp is pretty wise, it could be the path lead you to more cans or iems later :)

Get the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's (80 OHM version) with a Fiio E6 or better. Total would cost under $220 and sounds crazy good especially the bass

57mm JVC HA-XM30X

60 bucks.

Burn em in at 1/2 volume for a while...just plug em in and walk away while they exercise.

Those jacked into an e12 with the bass boost on and my Cowon is flat eq with BBE 10 and Mach Bass on 8.

Better than M-50, V-Moda, Entire Sony MDR series (700's better than 1000's....strangely)

Get an   Onkyo ES-HF300's (Awesome low end reproduction and overall excellent...they get very little attention??? ,Audio Technica ATH-ws55's, Logitech UE600's and AKG K845)

I did head to heads using the fiio on all these The JVC stomp on Beats which I own and V-moda and MTH M 50's.

Get the JVC's for the clear but head rattling bass and the ONKYO for great low freq reproduction and great mids and highs  and call it a day I think it would still be cheaper than Beats/Vmoda
