SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread - Page 43

Is there anyway to buy an adapter for the lockingsystem of the Hp 100's?

Dear everyone, I just got these in the mail and the sound is awesome. HOWEVER.

Only the right is working properly, the left side has very muffled sound, very distant, and the volume is really low of the left cup. Any ideas what to do?

Send them back and get another pair.... where did you buy them from? They should pay for the return shipping because you had nothing to do with it. That's just ridiculous for a new pair.. i've heard of that already about one of the ear cups losing sound.. i'm reconsidering purchasing these with all the problems i here.

I got them from the site HDPHNS.com, so yea. I will get another pair.

Make sure it's not your plug.  I've had that happen with one headphone where you had to get the depth just right or it would sound like that.  Wiggle away my friend................

Nope, it really is not working. I have a question. What about a semi open or open headphone? I listen to them everywhere, yes. But only in the bus, people are going to get annoyed by it. (does it leak that much?) I don't mind the isolation which is gone with an open headphone. I thought about the DT880 headphone.

You just can't enjoy music if you wear open or semi open headphones outside. There's so many noises, a little bit of wind will ruin your day for using them.. it's just a bad idea if you ask me.. give it a shot though, maybe you will like it.

Anyways, i just ordered a pair of these off ebay for a decent price (open box).. just waiting for them to come in now. Not sure what to expect.

Can somebody compare Sennheiser Momentum (over ear) with SoundMagic HP100?

Anyone want to buy my pair of HP100s? I have 2 cables - a straight one and a coiled one they came with. Still have the receipt and the warranty card.

Your HP100's came with a straight cable or you just bought the straight cable that comes with the HP200's? If so, where did you get it?.. i hate this coiled cable, it's too heavy.

I'm enjoying the HP100's so far, not blown away by them, but they're definitely worth the price tag. I'll probably write a review in a couple weeks once i get more familiar with them. Only thing i don't like is how the cable is too heavy and the earpads are shallow. My ears touch the foam piece on the driver, not making them uncomfortable per se, but not making them very comfortable either. ATM i'd give my 558's a 9-9.5/10 for comfort and the hp100's a 7/10, as of right now... my 558's were the same way now that i think of it.

I also do think i hear the sucked out lower mids. (or not hear). Some songs with drums aren't very prominent as they are on my 558's. While it should be the opposite because the hp100's have more lower frequency then my 558's except for the lower mids.

anyways... i'll just write a review... lol

I looked for it, could you link me? Thanks

Anyways, i recently did a little mod on my hp100's. The foam piece that is stuck over the driver, i took that off, along with the round tape that held it on.

What they look like now

The 2 pieces i took out..

What the drivers look like now without the ear cushions.

I didn't take a before picture, but i'm sure you can just look at your own. I wasn't planning on keeping the mod. I thought they would have made them uncomfortable because there's no more cushion between your ears and the driver, but i was wrong, they actually made them more comfortable (for me anyways), my ears hardly touch anything now, where as before the cushion pieces were up against my ears very slightly, causing a little discomfort.

Sound changed a little bit, but nothing too drastic. The highs became a tad more brighter (which i must say, i enjoy) and the detail also improves just a tad... just a tad, this could be placebo but i know for certain that the highs brightened up just a bit. The mids and bass seem unaffected, besides the detail. After all the cushion isn't that thick, but thick enough.

P.S. there's also a thin film like paper over the drivers, you can see it in the last picture, i'm pretty sure that would be irreversible without the proper tools. I'll leave that alone... for now.
