I thought it had been established that any sonic differences were minimal and due to the different cup material?

I think the differences I perceive have a fair amount to do with my amp swapping, since I could detect a noticeable difference between using my K 550s on my Headroom Micro and the K 550s on my SMSL sAp II.  The differences I perceive between the HP100s and HP150s (again, IIRC) are a better soundstage, perhaps a touch more clarity, and more bass impact.
