Need speaker cables for Bass only!!!!! Help!!

Hey guys.

I need suggestions. I'm about to add a pair of non powered subwoofers to my stereo setup. Therefore, I will have to power them through a seperate amp (which I have) and seperate speaker cables (whixh I don't have). I'm using 'Signal Cable' double run shotgun bi-wires for my monitor speakers.

Here's what I need from you guys. Can you recommend a speaker cable that you know does bass 'VERY' well!!! I don't care if the upper frequencies were awful, I just need a really good bass speaker cable. When I say good, I mean tight, punchy and deep.

just some 12g from radioshack/home depot/lowes should work fine for ya.

I already have a pair of Coincident Triumph Signatures right now. They are currently on a pair of 4 post steel speaker stands. In about 2 weeks, I'm ordering a pair of Coincidents mini-subs which double as stande for the speakers also. They have 8 inch drivers.

i think the generic 12g should work for ya meech. those subs are getting a frequency bandwidth of around 100hz. as opposed to your main speakers bandwidth of 20000hz.

it isn't asking a lot of a cable to cover such a small frequency range.

Audioquest Dragon, depends on your price range, you haven't mentioned that.

Kimber 8TC? Or do you want something specially designed for subwoofers?

I have found speakercables can have more of an impact on a speaker system then interconnects. I currently use audioquest Everast speaker cables now, if you ever had the chance to hear them in your own system you would see what I mean.
The Dragons I had before where audioquests top of the line before the everest and can be found used, Have killer bass.

then i guess i'll modify my statement to:
i don't believe in speaker cable yet .

I think for bass freqs you would do ok with 12 gage wire, like from Radioshack. You really need current capability more than anything else with those subwoofers.

This assumes the ONLY signal is the bass freqs going to the subwoofer. And your monitors have their own connection to the amp.

If the cable you seek goes to the subwoofers, and then the satellites connect to the subwoofers, you need some GOOD cable. A lot of it out there.

Note that the standard speaker cable we speak of, the 12 gage, is ordinary copper wire with PVC insulation. Over time, just a few years, the PVC will corrode the speaker cable, making it green and black, and effecting sound. It's happened to me.

i'm pretty sure this happens with a wide variety of speaker cables. it's just that you can see through the jacket on the generic brands.

um.. I have 8 year-old 12 gauge wire with clear PVC and no sign of corrosion.

check out The Bolder Cable company. The m80 interconnects are great for bass, so asks Wayne about the m80 speakers they may work for you.
