As far as anyone knows, the guts on the insides are the same.

The Premium have a slightly less grip around the head then the Pros.

My DT990 Pros feel just fine on my head.

The Premiums come in 32-Ohm and 600-Ohm, which the Pros do not.

The 32-Ohm and 600-Ohm versions are "special" so they cost more.

i have an amp and would actually prefer 250 than 32 ohms and no thanks i dont want 600, i dont think my amp is that powerful lol, i think 250 should be the "sweet spot" so i still dont think premiums deserve to be more expensive than pros if they have the same internal parts

They sound the same to me (owned both pro and premium). Difference was pro had much higher clamping force and coiled cable.

Mine were DT880

coiled cable is not a negative thing and i dont have problem with my dt990's clamping force...

Agree - I found the DT880 Pros quite comfortable - and the length and quality of my Premium 600 ohm cable annoyed me so much I recabled it with Mogami Starquad (and I was fine with the Pro cable).

 

Guess it comes down to individual preference.

Yup - opened the cups, desoldered the old wire, soldered up a new cable - not very hard to do - just takes practise.  Learnt a lot modding my Grados.

To update everyone on the original post, I have since purchased the HD600, Pro 750, AND D2000. I got phenomenal prices on the first 2 headphones and they're brand new with warranty. I got the D2000s for a good used price in the forums. Thanks for your help. Still interested on some opinions about the SRH1440 though.
