Please lend me a helping hand with picking right headphones for Titanium HD - Page 2

Hello again.

Today i was able to visit music store and listen to all kind of headphones. Took me like 4 hours and i still cant decide between two pairs of headphones...DT 880 Premium 250 ohm or DT 990 Premium 250 ohm. They both sound great, but 880 lacks some bass for my taste while beign great and "clear" during vocal songs. On the other hand DT 990 has great bass for trance and dubstep music but at the same time it kinda disturbs other sounds and makes them go "behind" the bass.

Either way i cant decide...i wish there was a perfect solution, like combining both of them into one perfect piece.

I also wanted to ask, some people use combo like this: sound card--->mixamp--->o2-->headphones.

What is the purpose of that? better sound?

Im also a bit worried about headphones i tested because they were pretty silent...i gave volume to max and i was suprised i cant go any further. Is it possible that in this shop headphone amp was just too weak to power them? It was Pro-Ject headphone amp for about 100$

Does sound like the headphone amplifier used for the displays lacks enough voltage to drive the Beyerdynamic to their best.

The Titanium HD does not come with a headphone amplifier, but can still decently drive Beyerdynamic 250-Ohm headphones.

Add-on external headphone amplifiers like the O2 (Objective 2) are better at drving headphones then the Titanium HD's headphone jack.

You can plug an external amplifier to the Titanium HD's RCA jacks and still use the Titanium HD's headphone surround sound.

On eBay, they sell single tube headphone amplifier that can easily drive 250-Ohm headphones.

Prices are $50 to $120, the better ones start at $70, $90 would get you (my personal pick) the Indeed G2 (or MKII?) EH 6922 headphone amplifier.

These tube amplifiers can easily drive 600-Ohm headphones.

Pure Tubes amps are more for headphones in the 120-Ohm (?) and higher range.

Yet again, thank You for another piece of useful info.

The amps You recommended are not avaiabile in my region and when i search on ebay there is only one seller who ships to Europe...Maybe You could recommend something else? FiiO E9 seems to be easy to get in my region.

Some of those tube amplifiers are sold on Amazon (Bravo brand)

But the Fiio E9 should be fine.

Problem is amazon.com wont ship some of their items to Poland...also europe and US have different AC adaptor's so im looking for some good amp thats avaiable in Europe,so far i said i found Fiio E9 and i dont know any other good popular brands.

edit: just found someone selling Little Dot MK III (not new) for the same price as FiiO E9,is it worth it?

I've never used the Little Dots myself.

But a Little DOT MK III for the same price sounds like a really good value

In the USA, Fiio E9 sell for $115 and the Little Dot MK III sell for $225.

The Little Dot MK III should make any 250-Ohm headphone sound really nice, go for it.
