Hey all whats the best way to store high quality music files on my pc?

I want a better file format that the standard mp3? Any recommendations? I have a 200 GIG hd for storage.

Thanks

Go lossless. FLAC or APE. I think there have been threads in the Source forum. Visit http://www.hydrogenaudio.com

MPC is another good one. The files are relatively small, especially compared to lossless, and most people can't tell them from the original. I find quality 8 MPCs are indistinguishable from the original (lower settings I can tell some slight differences).

You don't need tester files -- they both sound identical to the original -- bit for bit. Ape compresses slightly more, but Flac is distributed on more liberal terms.

Dude: do a search...and not just within Head-Fi.

To answer your question, use EAC in secure mode and get the zip files containing both FLAC and Monkey's audio (you'll need the GUI frontend for FLAC to compress / decompress files easier). Then, setup and rip / compress away.

If you're using Foobar +ASIO+Resampling you'll want to go ape. Flac's stutter like crazy with those settings for some reason.
