Looking for really small speakers with great sound

Thread Starter
Hey. I'm looking for a small set of speakers to use with my Marantz 1070 for my computer. I currently have a set of Paradigm Atoms and they're decent but I want something that is fuller and more detailed.
Does anyone know of any speakers that are very small (like the Atoms) and have great sound? THanks.

I hear the NHT superzero is amazingly full sounding for its size. I think it's comparable to atom in size, and from what I've heard in other NHT speakers, and what I've read on the superzero, it should be pretty darn good. On the powered side, not using ur Marantz, I think the Event TR-5 powered studio monitors are great deals too.

Sorry I don't second that option. Chaging Atoms with Superzeros is plain downgrading in particular the bass, imho. Listen for yourself.

Mmm bass?...I was thinking more in the lines of "fuller and more detailed..."

You're not going to get clean deep bass out of a small woofer.

Don't write off the Events though, check them out at your local Guitar Center. Bring your own music!

To me fuller partially means with better/more reallistic bass.

Once I did a comparison of my Atoms with NHT towers and NHT Superzeros. The Atoms blended with the towers (which were very detailed) much better than the Superzeros, and the Atoms clearly had better bass than the Superzeros. Because of the better blending with the towers, I think even in detail the Superzeros don't match the Atoms, but I'd need to compare them again on that without any tower speakers to match, just a comparison between the two.

Atoms are great small speakers, and with great bass, don't understimate their bass because of their driver's size. I keep posting this link whenever Atoms are mentioned, here it goes again, check the positive remarks in particular about the bass:

If you want better detail within similar speaker size, then an option could be Quad 11L's, which have supposedly very refined treble and detail, to the point of maybe being unforgiving on bad recordings and equipment. These Quads are more than double the price of the Atoms though, and they allegedly lack a bit in the bass. Quad 12L's supposedly fix that keeping the refined highs, but for more money as well. Have tried to listen to those myself, but haven't been able to yet.

I understand that we're not seeing eye to eye. I just equated fuller sounding to midrange. The atoms are indeed supposed to be very bassy according to every review under the sun.

Here's another vote for the Event TR5's Great sound! I like.

They make miniature tubes and miniature loudspeakers, but they have yet to come up with a miniature 32-foot wavelength.
