i have a pair of srh 840 and i want more of a pair that would work better with gaming, astro a40 beat them and i want to beat a pair of a40

I'd give the huge gaming headset thread a shot...but my pick is the HD598 at a reasonable price...Then probably my HD800 at the 'cost no object' place. As far as positional whoring goes anyway.

The Q701 is even better than the HD598, if you can afford to go that route.

They're huge, not collapsable, picky about amping and open.

In other words...not portable.

Thats a big advantage of the 598's = easy to drive.

I still use my 598s for gaming. Love them and the only thing that MIGHT work better are my he-400s, but the 598s are so comfy I end up using them for comfort and for less bassy gameplay so I can hear foot movement better.

If going with a closed back, the ultrasone Pro550.
