I just wish they'd update the drivers!

What problem are you having? Windows 8? Because mine just seems to work fine on Windows 7 or Mac.

Since I've been using my mac I haven't had any problems.

I use my MacBook Pro with my DAC-100 and I've never really had any problems. Overall, I really like the DAC-100, but now I'm looking to upgrade to a better DAC, probably in the $3,000-$5,000 range. I still plan on keeping the DAC-100 though, if anything to use as a headphone amp for the HD 800's and other high-impedance headphones.

If anyone is interested, I just posted my review of several other components in the NuForce Home series.  I already covered the DAC-100, and this time around I review the DDA-100 integrated, HAP-100 headphone amp/preamp, and STA-100 power amplifier. It's good stuff all around.

Very nice reviews. I have the same impressions about the Dac-100 and HAP-100 w/ the HD800s. My Dac-100 has a hi-fi supreme slow blow tuning fuse in it which made a nice difference but never had a chance to get a fuse w/ my HAP-100 before it died.

I'm still enjoying the DAC-100 with my Macbook and HD800 quite a bit in my bedroom rig.  If all I had was a DAC-100 and HD800 I'd be a happy camper.

With my low impedance phones I prefer to use the HAP-100 or DACmini for their blacker backgrounds.  I have the DAC-100 feeding the HAP-100 and then the RCA-out feeds the signal into the DACmini as well.  Since the DAC sections seem similar in performance I'm using the DACmini as an "amp only" right now, which is really only slightly preferred over the HAP-100 with my LCD-2 or JH16 pro.

Cool, thanks Larry. I still can't get over how good the HD800 sounds from the DAC-100 or HAP-100. It's just phenomenal. T1 is also very good.

I just made a discovery on the HAP-100. Powering on with the remote, then immediately pressing "Input", disables the RCA rear panel output. This is handy as I'm currently using the HAP-100 in a desktop rig with some Adam Audio active monitors, but also sometimes with headphones. I can leave the Adams powered on (rear panel power switch is not so convenient!) and disable their sound with the HAP-100. Nice!

Thought I had found an "easter egg" but then I read the manual and it's right in there, clear as day....

Hah, I was reading and was about to reply that it's in the manual until I got to the last line there tongue.gif

I do wish that they had different remotes though, instead of using the same codes for all their devices which renders the remote rather useless when you have the DAC/HAP stacked on top of each other. I sent them an email a while ago asking why don't they just program in different codes for each device, include the cheapo default remote with each, then offer a nicer universal remote for their home series with some sort of toggle or selector switch.

That's a good point. I don't really use the remote much but your idea makes total sense.

My DAC-100 is for sale if anyone is interested. I love the sound but I'm constantly switching sources and trying new things so it has to go.

my UDH-100's volume knob stopped working today... in order to get sound you have to turn it in certain places but the sound is distorted and its the same volume no matter what way the knob is turned. Strange that it would randomly do this however the volume knob on mine never felt right, it felt like it was not turning anything. hmmmm...

Have you contacted customer support?

I think the UDH pot is actually a digital controller like the DAC is it not? I would suspect something happened with the volume control chip rather than the pot itself.

I sent them a message to their facebook page.
