Can someone advise where I can buy a cable from my Ipod Line Out to a Ray Samuels XP-7 amp ? I am in the UK so it would be an advantage to get it from the UK.

Also, where can i get a cable to fit other sources to an XP-7 amp ?

Try meier audio . Check their cables section.

I use bolder m-80 mini to rca. It's the best mini to rca I have tested (compared to monster gold and zu pivot).

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference betweem mini to rca and mini to mini ? What is rca ?

Might Meier, for example, have the cable you suggest ?

Mini to Mini is going straight from your iPod to another 1/8" mini (or headphone sized) jack.

Mini to RCA is going from your iPod (mini) to RCA (left/right like on the back of receivers). Here's a great pic of a Mini (small one) to RCA (the two bigger ones, right/left)

EDIT: Meier does have these cables...go here: http://home.t-online.de/home/meier-audio/ & click "Cables" over there to the left...

and it's the third cable down, the "TECH+LINK mini-to-RCA interconnect"

Thanks. I need to ask another question.

I assume that the Ipod Line out must be used not the earphone output, in which case surely i would have to use the Ipod base dock to give me the right sort of socket but it adds more bulk if i was on the move.

You can certainly use the headphone out with an amp, but thats not really going to do much other than adding volume.

There are portable line out cables for the ipod (both DIY and imp cables). 3g Ipod + Imp cable + Bodler M-80 + SHure E5s is a really sweet portable setup.

You should look at the Imp cable from SIK if you are looking to amp the iPod while on the move. It enables the line-out of the dock connector without having the actual dock.

I now have the Imp in-line with my portable rig and the iPod (30GB or mini) -> Imp -> SuperDual (or XP-7) -> E5c (or Ety 4S) is a sweet sounding and extremely portable set-up.
