Yes, the ido can power them fine but I think eventually you'll want more power. You can always add an amp later.

Excellent. For under $100, the iDo is a no brainer. Still using mine and really enjoying what I'm hearing.

I liked the first one so much I bought a second one, again for $99.  Great sound and far better than stock iPod sound.  So glad I found these for such a great price.  And my Apple TV remote works with it so I can start and stop tracks, advance so if you guys didn't know it had that capability, just another reason to get one.

Hi all
So the icon ido came today but I have been having trouble with it. It will just stop working mid song and I need to turn it off and on then it works for a bit. Now the best I can tell it happens when I get the slightest static shock off the headphones(HE-400) and this time of year I have a lot of static. 😎 Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks

Nope..never had this happen. I'd contact NuForce.

Keep us posted.  I think you'll be very happy if it works right.

Can someone verify that the RCA line out is variable or fixed?  The manual shows the RCA line out to hook up the a receiver but not to self-power monitors where I can use the ICon-IDo volume control to control my self-power monitors.

Thank you.

Thank you.

The lingo I'm not sure of as I'm not sure what you're asking but with the RCA outs feeding my vintage amp the volume IS affected with the iDo's volume control.  Does that help?

Sorry abt the audio jargon.

1. If the RCA line out of the iDo can be adjusted ( +/-) by the front volume control knob, then it is called variable line output. In this case one does not need a pre amp.

2. If the RCA line out of the iDo cannot be adjusted (+/- ) by the front volume control knob ( on the front panel), then it is fixed. In this case one will need pre amp.

I've got you. So it has the RCA variable line output.Thank you.

Your post was very encouraging to read because I am an Icon iDo owner who is awaiting delivery of a pair of HD600s. My biggest fear has been that it wouldn't drive them well, but like you I will be using this for bedside listening and most likely won't be needing or wanting to listen at very loud volumes. Can't wait to hear how these sound together for myself. (I also plan to give it "some months" before I even think about a different amp. We'll see how that goes :] )
