and i was

someone was tossing a set of these into the trash after an attic cleanout

the "Duetta"

the veneer is a bit rough and there is a nick or two but soundwise they are perfect !

after a facelift for the cosmetics i think i found my new surrounds , or maybe for system 2 , or maybe my multimedia workstation or maybe............

choices are nice

mine is actually a bit different but finding info can be.......well......actually ..... FUN !

And the sound is actually damn nice with my HH Scott 299B integrated amp ,which is my computer amp , but the size precludes the desk placement-and they are not designed as "nearfield" monitors so out they go

But since I seem to be revamping my system and going 50's "retro" these puppies with a cleanup will be just right for the rear channels

My center channel is an old RCA (40s ? Can't find anything on it) cabinet which stands 30" high and has a PP 7199 amp + 12 inch driver and a radio but no dial mechanism (it was treated badly).i am presently retoring all to former glory and am going to seal up the back and put in a driver to match my klipsch's

Next up will be a corner horn , either K-horn or EV or Jensen , for the low bass . Not really a subwoofer but more of just a bass speaker . Still looking for "the one"

everything amped with tubes

gonna be fun man !

That sweet, sweet retro sound! Thats quite a find, Rick.
(It really is amazing how good some of the old gear sounds.)
Makes me wish we were neighbors so I could come over for a listen.

y'know , it is funny how even though a lot of the vintage stuff does not sound "Hi-Fi" in the extreme accuracy sense it almost never gets 'caught out'

all errors are towards the euphonic , the pleasing and not the irritating.(A welcome thing for these old ears

I also like the sensitivity of the older designs

5 watts is like hitting my old DQ-10s with 200 !

Plus I also have a thing about wood

wood cabinets , wood panels , wood enclosures , wood speakers

and oh yeah ! Bras, wrinkle paint , hammer finishes ,CHROME !

When electronics went to the stark black panel look (blame it on mark leveinson ) it took some of the WAF away with it.

screw high tech , i'll take retro or even 50's DIY look

BTW-be proud to have you as a neighbor (if you could stand me that is )

Gotta love the green carpet in the first picture.

That's a great find. It's nice to keep them out of the landfill.

and the modern chair

also a lot of fun to come across "no name" or off branded cabinets with cabinets and find a jbl or altec (or jensen ) driver inside !

Those old alnicos don't even need magnetic shielding to put them up next to a video monitor

progress
