First off, I would like everybody to ignore my rank, and if you read this and looked at it, that just backfired on me, but because rank is based on post and I tend to stay in the thread of my creation (「Official」Asian Anime, Manga, and Music Lounge) where I post plenty, I ended up with the rank of Headphone Supremus.
I'm looking for headphones to listen to a plethora of Japanese music. I will list samples below. Here is some general information.

Listening Location Home
Listening Environment Varies. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. Don't base your recommendation off this.
Headphone Preferences
- Open or Closed? No preference
- Circumaural, Supra-aural, In-ear? In order of preference (even though this is the Circumaural Section), Circumaural > In-ear > Supra-aural
- Sound? I'm relatively new to headphones (don't judge based on my rank). I have the opportunity to travel to New York as I live rather close and go there every once in awhile. I believe there is a headphones store that is about to open in New York, and I can always go there to try headphones when I can. Simply put, no preferences yet.
If there's anything else you wish to ask me regarding the recommendation, feel free to ask.
Also, note that the contents of my wallet are bound to change, as this is just a guess. Here's the story if you want to know why.
tl;dr backstory (Click to show)
I have $2000 in my wallet, and hopefully I won't spend all of it. Why haven't I allocated all of that money towards audio equipment? I'm looking to build a computer this summer, for probably $1000 to $1200 (or slightly more). I've been debating on how much to allocate towards audio equipment, and $600 currently seems like a safe mark, although it's bound to change. The remaining I must allocate to furniture (a table a chair, probably the Ikea Galant 63-Inch and Staples Acadia Mesh Task Chair) to hold my computer and audio equipment (and keyboard, mouse, and monitor(s), etc.).

Oh, and what bowei and tilpo said about amps. Also remember FiiO and the beautifulness that is (are?) vintage receivers/amps. And amp soundcards (the K1000 is *really* unpicky; the HD 600 are more reactive).
