Ugh!

I'm so friggin' close to having the funds necessary to send my Pioneer Elite DV-59AVi to ModWright for heavy modifications. Yet, I got to stay the course and make sure my other budget priorities get attention too. I'm literally a couple of cents away from sending my unit out to Mr. Wright but I know that IF I do it, then I'd be taking like three steps backwards with my other priorities (funding my competitive shooting career, paying off my Direct Student Loans Debt, etc.). This Head-Fi thing is so friggin' addictive that it's messing with my common sense and my mental stability. Ugh!

Don't reply. Moderators, lock me up quick!

Too bad, I'm going to reply.

So why all the guilt?
You have deeper issues that has nothing to do with audio enjoyment my friend.

Yes. My Head-fi obsession is fueled further by my avoidance of fears of failure of my business and potential business in the future.

I rationalized by saying to myself that headphones would make me more productive by helping me concentrate on my work.

I almost bought a MZ-E55 on ebay today, it would've been like 30 bucks, but I decided not to, and the fact that AOL decided to disconnect like 2 mintues before it ended sealed the deal, it would've ended before I got back on, it wasn't the greatest deal ever anyway.

You should never make statements like that.

Why do you need to have that Pioneer modified?

Pay off loans first, then you might be able to have enough money for an even better piece of equipment.

You were referring to him, but I could go for a new portable or 5 depending on what I get...I'm looking at an iPod Mini, it just looks purty

Well, sticking to my existing budget plans will ensure that I am able to pay off the first six month grace period of my DSL debt anyway. And I got the first five months' of savings for my shooting career anyway. It's a funny thing: I could give in and say screw it but that's not what I'm going to do. I'd rather keep to my budget plans. All things will work out in the end...I have faith that it will. Okay. Thanks ya'll for putting up with me. Back to studying and working.

IMO you already have a good player, and the rest of your system is also good, more than decent IMO, a lot better than mine, why the rush, if you have other priorities, that will affect your professional, or social life, take care fo them first, remeber this is a hobby not an obsession, not a need, you have to realize that, even to put some money on your bank, for the future, is first that going further in upgrades, IMO first what is first, if you have that extra money, well go for the hobby, otherwise is perfectly sane, and wise, and logical, to stop for a while and take care of the rest of the priorities first.....you should be able always to do those mods, or if not, get a better ones, or even replace the source, but there are other things in life that have priority, and has to be done in the moment they show up, health, love, emotional life, social life, even financial life, those are now or never, is that the case of the mods, no right?.........Just my two cents....

Well...that's certainly a point I considered. But really, I realize this is just a hobby. I'm making strides in setting realistic budget goals and I'm getting there by working hard and saving carefully. I've met my competitive shooting goal for this semester. Now, I got to save up a bit more for the DSL debt payback during the 6 month grace period. After that, I should be home free and I can afford the ModWright package deal. It's just...well, I was expressing the feeling of temptation and not yielding to it. That's it. Thanks. NO more replies...it's getting out of hand and silly, okay?

You can always upgrade later -- and just think of the anticipation you'll feel waiting for that day. It will be great. You picked a wonderful player and will have a great time.

Welly... two things:

1) Have you finalized which mods that you want to get? Were they the basic mods ($400-600?) or the Ultimate Truth mods with Bybees, etc. ($1000+?)?

2) If you want to stop anybody else from responding to this thread, you can delete the parent post and then the whole thread disappears. I think it does, anyway. (Here's your chance to test that theory. )

Moderators are the only people that can kill threads...

I think this one should stay around though, then - when Welly has made the correct decision, and has a clear conscience, he can look back to this thread, and breathe a sigh of relief
