Mp3 players vary in their ability to drive headphones, that is true. Maybe you'll have a bit better sound with an amp, but I found very little difference between my computer's onboard sound and my FiiO E10. Of the three headphones I use regularly, the CAL's require the least volume on the FiiO.

might be less to do with the amp and more to do with your mp3 player.

probably so..

but when compared to earpiece, i have to tweak my volume up by quite a lot...

might be because the cals are not so good at isolation.

dont think its the isolation part.
more on the loudness of the sound.
