While they have (IMHO) some serious flaws to call them a good or even worth considering headphone... at least for music, they might shine at professional FPS gaming.

Excessive treble and soundstage translates real well into hearing the positioning of the enemy.

I wouldn't say they are peculiar for movies... they have some bass, but the sucked out mids are a no-go for any decent movie (without excessive explosions), plus the treble...

I'd rater go for an equalized DT990 or an HD650 for movies... or an AKG K240s for cheapskates.

I would skip on the HD700 for music listening though.

Hypothetically, are they good headphones at $250? lol

and how do they compare to the Q701?

well... the HD700 has a headband one can endure unlike the K/Q70X

HD650/600/580 still have less flaws than both of them.

Q701 is good. The HD558 and 598 are good. The HD600 and HD650 are even better. You can buy them used for a little bit more than $250.

IMO, the HD700 does some great things, but it also does some really bad things. The HD650 and HD600 are like fairly good looking cute girls. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them and one can be extremely content and very happy. The HD700 is kind of like a really hot chick, but with a [redacted].

I'd do the HD600 most of the time. The HD650 is on the thick side, but nevertheless enjoyable. The HD700 is too exciting, kind of weird, and at times painful depending upon the source.

FTFY.

You could place any single word in there and make it really really dirty:

Try it, example: Peanutbutter

LOL. I'm glad the mods had a sense of humor on this one.
