Amp: Objective 2 Amp? MixAmp Pro? M-Stage amp?

not sure on which to get, and is that a good mic to get?

For your hp's, I'd take the Matrix M-Stage. Are you planning on the version that includes the dac or are you planning on a separate dac?

I dont know what a dac is honestly. I want to use it for gaming on xbox, I'll be getting a sound card for my pc later.

dac=digital to analogue converter. There is a version of the m-stage that includes a dac and then you wouldn't have to use the dac from your pc which is usually bad.

DAC is equivalent to half a sound card... usually sound card has both DAC and ADC. If you don't intend to have sound input, a DAC will suffice.

I will be using it on my xbox and PS3 as my PC has speakers already.

The Mix-amp. will serve as optical (5.1 channel) input, DAC, Dolby Virtual Headphone 5.1 (headphone 2-channel) output.

So the mix-amp will serve as the DAC,

Just need to plug whatever headphone amplifier you want into the headphone output jack on the Mix-Amp.

(so analog cable from the stereo mini-jack on the mix-amp to the analog input (RCAs or mini-jack) on the headphone amplifier.

And plug the headphones onto the headphone amplifier's output.

I believe the Mix-amp has a microphone input, but the mic draws power away from the headphone output.

But your adding a separate headphone amplifier anyway. So your ok.
