We had some power problems for a while on one phase of my AC power in my condo. Problem was, it was the one used for all my electronics in all rooms.
Brownouts were the problem, and sometimes total failure of one phase.
I mean real brownouts!
One I caught but not in time. It fried one VCR and got my bedroom receiver smelling like burned electronics.
Now I use AC regulators (Tripplite LC1200's and a LC2400).
They regulate the AC great. And they have good surge supression. They also disconnect power to my equipment if voltage gets too low or high.
I usually hear them click and work a couple of times a week.
I am sure they probably affect my sound a bit, but it is better than the sound I would make looking at my expensive, fried, smoking components !
