burson new soloist headphone amp - Page 79

The Calyx DAC 24/192 is a very nice sounding DAC. Plenty of resolution and dead black background in a small and nicely finished chassis, plus linear PSU. It doesn't have display or digital volume or many inputs, it is very simplistic, but SQ is top notch.

Regarding the Soloist noise floor, is anyone else getting very low level of hisssss from their unit?

Not so much as a whisper of hiss with mine.

How bad is it?
A whisper is a good phrase. Livable for now...

mine is also "whisper free"

Totally silent background with LCD-3 on any gain setting and even at 3 o'clock.

Thanks gang, I'm going to be working on power isolation before going back to Burson on the unit; I'll report back.

Installed my Soloist yesterday, now burning it in using LCD-3F while I type this. Wow, what a nice amp!

Here is a picture from yesterday.

Congrats for such a nice setup Matias. I love the Kef stuff, and it matches the soloist color really well.

I notice you live in Brazil. A friend told me that getting audio gear can be difficult and expensive, how do you do that? Buying from overseas?

A good number of people are using the LCD-X and the Soloist combination. Interesting

Hey, realized it was more of a hum than a hiss, so reduced gain and used a power conditioner, much reduced that background level of hum.

ive just recieved my package, any of you burson soloist owners could you please post an image the rear panel when voltage switch selected to 230v?

Hi Geogaddi,

Sorry for no picture but I can tell you that all you have to check is that you can read "230 V" on the voltage selector.  Then it's on the good setting.

I'm using the Wireworld Electra 7. Before that I had the Shunyata Venom 3 (the thicker one; not the Venom 3 S). I found that the Electra 7 gives a cleaner yet still smooth sound, and better bass definition. If you want a darker/warmer sound, the Venom 3 might be better, but for me it sounded like the Venom 3 lost some details when compared to the Electra 7.
