burson new soloist headphone amp

  I was browsing and I just saw a new burson headphone amp coming out july 1st.I read bursons heads up about its design and looked at its inner workings which they displayed on their website.This is a totally new design using fet transistors in a class a amplifier design.It certainly looks a lot different from my ha-160 amps inner workings.It uses a toroid power transformer which appears to be pretty substantial.The amplifiers power output is claimed to be 4 watts which is a healthy increase of power.

 I was wondering if anyone has heard the new amplifier offering and would like to share their impressions of it and possibly any comparisons of its sound with the ha-160 amp.Any would be appreciated because there are no local dealers in my area where I can audition the new amp.

I'm surely tempted by this one, as I own the 160D and love it.

Most likely will try and review the new Soloist. Love the L/M/H gain switches and the 3 inputs.

The specs are also amazing, will have no problems powering the HE-6 I suppose, will see...

That's a lot of check marks.  Let's just hope the preamp switching is more reliable than the HA-160D or always on.  Also hope its not just more power but actually less grainy.

Looks like somebody posted a similar thread, but anyways..i've been waiting for burson to release a more powerful amp to drive the HE-5 and the HE-6 headphones. With the previous versions the listening level was fine, but not at his best. 

 

Lets wait for the impressions to come.

Can anyone work out whether the full 4 watts would be available for a 60ohm load?

Looks like I'll be reviewing the Soloist :) Burson kindly offered to send me a demo unit. I'll be comparing it against my HA-160D driving an Audeze LCD-2 rev1.
