All settings default... No EQ
Anyone with the same observation? I am starting to think i got a fake clip since everyone seems to enjoy thiers. frown.gif

Well I'm having this same poor sound quality experience with my new Clip+ 8GB. The sound is very much as described above, quite muddy and boxed in, lacking presence and clarity, like I'm listening from another room.

I'm using the stock firmware. I've tried listening with Westone UM3x, Sennheiser PX100 and Koss Porta Pro ear\headphones. All produce the same muffled sound with the Clip+ but they all play very well with my Creative Zen Vision M. I'm playing mp3s ripped mostly at 320kbps and I've left the EQ at neutral.

I've read through this whole thread (and others) and I haven't seen anything that gives me hope that I can improve the sound quality except maybe Rockboxing it.

I got this Clip+ to be my Rhapsody fall back player when my Zen Vision M bites the dust but it seems Rockbox doesn't work with Rhapsody. :(

What's strange is that I've read more than one post around the web that say the Clip+ and the UM3x are a very good match. That's one of the reasons I bought it. My experience has been different.

Looks like I'm back to my search for a good quality mp3 player that also works with Rhapsody (or other streaming\to go service if it comes to that) . . .

is there a way to play all your music at once on a rockboxed clip+ despite being in different folders?
i have all my songs separated by folders in my micro SD so it looks more organized.
sometimes i just want to play all my songs at once and leave it on shuffle while taking my one hour ride home from a long day.

edit: i didnt realize there was a rockboxed clip+ appreciation thread. sorry i posted it on this one.
