Is Axe music reliable????

Their site is screwed. I tried ordering twice, the way I always do, and I keep getting error message/declined. I'll look somewhere else to see if I can get the same price.

Wow that is unfortunate! I actually don't use the website to order since it's faster for to go to the store for me. I wonder if you could phone and order that way.

Anyway I am really liking the sound of these and don't think they will have durability issues like the 940 did so I think may have found my new general purpose can. They are a bit big and a bit less secure feeling than I would like but I think I can overcome those issues. I see if I still feel this way in a couple days but so far so good.

Isolation wise they about the same as the 1R and Momentum on the train today so I am happy on that front too.

Yeah, I guess I could phone. I'm wondering if it may have something to do with having to go through your credit card issuer to get some sort of "security protection", but I can't get anywhere or be certain as to why I can't order.

Seriously, if you enjoy your headphones and don't hear anything objectionable about their sound, stop worrying about it. This is another type of placebo - you might now make yourself hear these resonances even though they might not be objectionable to you in the first place (everybody has different ears).
...but
if you really want to hear them, I'd say the solos on Slayer's "Reign In Blood" are a good place to start.

Thanks from your kind reply,, i agree with you that if i enjoy the sound i shouldn't worry about resonances....

but... I got your suggested recording (japan pressed version),, and i listened carefully to it, but found no trace of any resonance, may be i don't know what i'm looking for,, or that i'm becoming deaf (this is not discardable, but i think i still notice very subtle detailts with other music that i usually listen, trash metal is not definitively my favorite genre). I've compared the sound with some of the other headphones i have (Sennehiser HD 25, Sony ZX700, Creative Aurvana Live), and besides the usual differences between these headphones, i've not found a negative result relative to the AKG in this aspect. In fact, the CAL is the headphone i found that produces some kind of resonance.

Note that i don't claim there is not resonances in the headphone, only say that i'm not able to notice them (that can be good for me,, or bad, as i'm missing a lot of other positive things in the headphone).

Hey, this might mean that you have one of the better models out there (there is anecdotal evidence that suggests that AKG has revised the K550 and newer models have fewer resonance issues) or that you are simply not sensitive to driver ringing in these frequencies. Either way, you should be happy and enjoy ypour great headphones. For me, those solos were so piercing that they were physically painful to hear. Obviously, they are actually supposed to sound harsh but with my other headphones, I didn't feel physical pain :)

You could consider checking Amazon.es from time to time, as i've seen the AKG K550 as low as 140 euro just a week ago.

Also i think is not a bad idea to wait for the AKG K167 Tiesto, the first reviews are very positive, it seems to have also a terrific sound, a bit more bass presence, and better treble. Price also is lower.

May be, also i have not had any fitting problem, even considering that my head has a very extrange shape (that i was told at the bio lab, in a EEG test). New series seems to have an improved fitting also.

About the solos,, well, they were piercing,, compared with the softer rock i usually listen to, but, for example, the K550 sounded much softer with that solos than the Sony ZX700 (much, ,much brighter). and, of course, much more precise than with the CAL.
