It has really been a while since I switched pads, but what I remember was that bass didn't change much it's just that I got so much more space in the cup because of the new pads it just sounds "less close" or airy, whatever you want to call it. I'm no where near an authority here on the forums so the terms might be off. But still I'm positive the k550s didn't get brighter than they were.

i just had a long listening session- these are so airy and the treble peak isn't as bad as I originally expected.

 

The bass is also very present, not anemic as some have suggested they are. Extremely satisfied for £100!
