In fact your comparison reminds me of a PM exchange I had with music_4321 some time back. I told him that I heard my PF VIII as ever so slightly shouty in the lower treble with one of my classical test tracks. He listened to the same track with his PF IX and replied that he heard no such thing. I didn't know what to make of that, because between my older FAD 1601s, it's actually the steel model (SS) that has a tad more lively treble than the brass one (SB). So why would it be the other way round with the PF models? But now your A/B comparison seems to confirm the difference that music_4321 and I experienced between his PF IX and my PF VIII back then.
