Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread - Page 223

Ladies & Gentlemen, may I ask of your valuable opinions:

I'm using PF IX and also Heaven VI. I'm thinking of having a very suitable amplifier for both IEMs (Or any FAD house signature) which emphasizes in airiness and spacious sound. Preferably portability, but can live with Desktop (for PF IX on CD players).

Source: Combo SACD player, Ibasso DX50 (line-out), PC-Centrance Dacport.

Thank you for your opinions!

I would recommend the A2P tu-05 in a heartbeat. Although I haven't heard its little brother, that would also be an option for increased portability.

I saw Ian's Green illuminating unit. Okay, time to draft my budget and that's on the top of the buying list!

While we are at it paired with 627x the sound is quiet pleasant.

Oh yes, as woodcans says, the ASP TU-05 and PFIX are simply a matched made in heaven I feel. Honestly this combo is so out of the head feeling it is more like listening to near field monitors than headphones. Air, palpable sense of soundstage.

The amp really shows how the IX's scale with what they are fed.
I was listening last night with this very combo and my AK120 playing some DSD early music, it was as if one was in the recording with the musicians. The ability of this combination to portray piano and strings is just something else. You won't hear this quality until you start spending silly money in a home system and that is not just my opinion. I have friends who have spent silly money on home systems love the sound coming from this combo and truly that is not hyperbole.

I'm getting great sound coming from my Porta-tube. But might be a tad warm, though it's a good kinda warm for me, for some people i guess. Extension and space is really great though.

Whoa those pics are great, esp the first one! Would like some impressions of the sound as well.

Btw, here are the latest impressions of the Pandora Hope VI that I've found: http://headfijourney.blogspot.com/2013/11/final-audio-design-pandora-hope-vi.html

I hope someone can compare the Portaphile 627X to the Analog Squared Paper TUR-06 (and TU-05) with the Piano Fortes.

Sorry for the late response, just had a long journey home.

Guys, thanks for all the compliments regarding the photo.
I'm still learning, and woodcans is one of my inspirer indeed.
He's the guru.

Okay, regarding the sound.
Well, I'm not a reviewer, so it's a bit hard for me to explain.
So please bear with me.

If you are expecting for a deep and slaming bass impact, please stay away from this IEM.
It has bass obviously, but to me, I think it's less than adequate (less than it should be). It's just not right.

The less of lower region gives impact too on the mids, where evidently it has less body.
Put that aside, the mid itself has characteristic of Heaven series (I've listened to IV and VI).
They are so lush, airy and open.

High is clean and smooth.
But the transition between upper-mid and lower-high is a bit harsh to my liking.
This region could distort the already nice high.

Regarding the sound stage, it is so spacious, but the depth I think is shallow as if everything are lining in one straight plain.

If I would describe it in equalizer's band, the color of this IEM might look  as follow : -1, 0, 0, +1, +1

Final words, I think the II has the same characterisctic as the other Heaven's series, but as a little brother, it has less bass, less mids and less highs.
So, if you like the Heaven characteristic and can live with the lack of lower region, this might be an option.
