Part of me just wants to wait until Musica has the Heaven II for pre-order (if that's in the cards). Perhaps I'll wait for this local H-Fer to grab the IV preorder that he was talking about and try them out, just to see what I'm getting into.

As an aside, the PFII, I maintain, must be the strangest, most off-putting (in the most novel way) earbuds that I've experienced thus far.

I can't resist the shiny, shiny. If the K3K's get you arm candy, the Pandora'll turn me into Hefner himself. I fail to see how any discerning womenfolk will give me the time of day if I'm sportin ADs.

Oh, and I think the IV is supposed to be the most pedestrian of the Heaven phones no? They're supposed to be most lackin in "TwonQ" factor

Mahogany coating worthy of Holmes himself, forget about Hefner. Oozing with pure sexual luxury right there. Either way what a startling transformation that would be, best you bring a towel.

Good, I hate that smarmy son-of-a-gun.

Personally, I don't feel like taking risks with these. I'm just interested in the "new" BAs. I've heard good things about the IV from people not too fancied by the other FAD stuff.

^ Maybe you consider mr fancied but the VI is better. A bunch better IMO. You pay to play though.

What? A life newly charged with hedonistic sexual excess, or the silk robes, Cialis and Seabond wafers that accompany it? Can't make lemonade without a few lemons friendo

But the Pandora has a BA INSIDE OF IT wink.gif

Ah, so that's what was leaking. Told you about the towel. Now you've gone and made a stain all over her bed. Not the best way to start off a romp in the hay.

I might have missed it but any diagrams on how that BA fits in. Patents were (possibly) found for FAD earphones, so....

Also I don't know if he's reading this but @vwinter - the 2ch people couldn't dig much else up on that front. Someone did recall someone else mentioning Molex and FAD before, so I might have to dig through third-party site archives and logs when I get the time.

Oh, no knock on the FAD fans. Just that if the IV can get people who disliked them in the past to kick their feet up, then that's definitely something worth noting. Personally I'm quite intrigued by the new offerings.

I'm also playing on a budget, as I'd love to aggregate a bunch of the new $100-200 cheapos for kicks and gifts.

I dig the wackiness, the classiness, and the unusual tech implemented in their phones; they have a compelling philosophy. I can't overstate how impressed I am with what they're able to achieve with their single BA and DD designs. I can only wonder what they can extract out of a huge 50 mm driver and a proprietary BA, hell, that Pandora just shot straight up to the top of my "lust" list

I feel the exact way about FAD, they just have a special quality that makes me desire to own them. :beerchug:

I'm glad I helped bring the Pandora series to your attention, hope to compare impressions on them in the future!

I'm officially an idiot.

Not sure when they got into stock, but this means I don't have to wait for the friend to get his pre-order in for an audition. I'll just go in on the weekend.

Boy is the guy going to be sore when I tell him that we've had this under our local noses for so long.

Yeah, I'm pretty hot on those Fostex TE05. I don't agree with Anax on the subject of the ES5, but eh, $100 is chump change in this hobby. Aside from that, I'm thinkin a GEEK -> Vali - PVI rig could be pretty awesome for the moolah

As I was researching the PVI, turns out that news about them broke somewhere in he olde diary thread, so I guess in a sense, you merely reminded me that they existed wink.gif

I bet that setup will sound amazing, already have the GEEK on the way, might have to jump on this Vali bandwagon, hmm...

Yeah I felt like the Pandora series was kinda forgotten about by a lot of people, or at least was pushed into the background with all the new gear coming out. Hopefully this changes when they get released!

So according to this CamJam coverage by hifiplus, the Pandora VIII will be priced at $1600: http://www.hifiplus.com/articles/show-report-canjam-at-rocky-mountain-audio-fest-2013-part-1/?page=7

Yikes... I liked it better when the Hi end of the Pandora range (X) supposedly topped out at $1250... I hope the PVI is still priced at a paltry $600-700 :/
post #3285 of 4383

From almost all the sources I've found, the Pandora VI has been said to be priced at $699 so I don't think you have to worry about that. This pricing is really to be expected though, can't expect FAD to price their full-sized headphone series cheaper than their PF earphone series haha.
