If you have 2000 bucks, you can find out... I hear it's not too portable XD
Oh no. Stay a while. Let us lure you into a nice purchase of the most beautiful, heavy headphones that will make your ears gallop for joy (hopefully :p). Remember, the price has gone down from 8000 USD to 2000 USD; it's a steal!
You can see the Muramasa VIII off in the upper right-hand corner.
And look at the tag on the new headphones: it says Pandora, not Muramasa.
I've been told that the Pandora is merely a prototype design, and that those headphones are basically a non-functional shell (hence their being behind glass). Apparently there are three new designs on display, so hopefully someone will snag some pictures of the other two.
In other words, the replacement for the Muramasa is still uncertain at this point and in the early stages of development.
Also no one I've spoken to with FAD seems to have heard of the Heaven VI, interestingly enough. The Heaven II yes, but the Heaven VI no. Also it hasn't been in any of the in-print catalogs I've seen. Weird.
Here is an experiment that I am conducting. I got these on Amazon.
They are uber-portable (3.5"x3"x4") and very popular with gun nuts. (They are low profile and apparently don't interfere with rifle stalks.) It is an experiment to see if the PF IX might be usable in loud coffee shops.
They fit nicely over the 1602s. Comfort was poor at first but either I am getting used to them or they have loosened a bit (or both). It is okay now. As for the sound, it closes in the sound stage a little bit but the overall balance of the sound is the same. The mids if anything are a bit thicker. Importantly they cause none of the congestion that I get with sealed IEMs. The big headphone sound is still there. The PF IX still sounds fundamentally like itself.
I am not recommending this but I might down the road. It is an interesting experiment anyway. Isolation is great and they are cheap as chips.
I should add that the amazing horn-shaped sound stage is still very much there. Normal full size headphones are not going to sound like these (and few will come close to the isolation whch is CIEM quality.)
Reading the thread i'm looking to buy the Adagio II or III. Can someone suggest me a good deal on online store that ships internationally. I want to get it shipped to india.
Also which ones are better sound wise ? Shure SE215 or Adagio II or III ?
Hmmm... Listening to Man-Erg (VDGG) on the PF IX is proving quite spectacular. This was not entirely expected. These headphones continue to surprise.
(For the record, observations that I make regarding the PF IX, like this one, should be assumed to be of the PF IX naked, not with the Leightning LOF earmuffs over top. If otherwise, I will make it obvious.)
