Actually I am finding the Sony Hybrids to be quite focused. They sound tighter than the Bs to me, smaller opening notwithstanding. Again, it is still early. I am really pleased though.

I'll give the Hybrids a whirl tonight. As per the comment below, just let me know if you'd like me to just stop by one over here and mail them over to you.

Lol, sorry to hear that. Thanks for the info.

Guys and Gal's
Another recommendation for us FAD fans music-wise.

I just received today from Todd Garfinkle over at MA recordings the Nima Ben David Viola Da Gamba CD, Resonance.

Just ripped it to wav and have been listening completely absorbed by the beauty of it. If stringed classical instruments are your thing you have got to hear this CD, amazing quality but more than that, just sublime music.

My first purchase from Todd but it will not be my last! Highly recommended.

An added note. This is the first time I have tried using XLD to rip to a single file, the reason being is my 801 does not do gapless and this recording has many tracks that are just over a minute in length and it is really annoying having the gaps.

I can report it works wonderfully, it is like having a gapless replay of the music, the only down side is there is no track listing but having come from the luddite cassette tap generation that had no track listing on the player I have reverted to that shockingly simple thing of reading the CD track list whilst listening.. Shocking I know, but heck, it works!

This CD is MADE for the PF's!!

Can the 801 read a CUE file to view the single file as tracks so that you can skip to sections? Possible solution if it's supported.

I don't own any of the new Heaven models, but if these are similar to the older ones (A / C / S), they may sound best if you shorten the Hybrids' stem by half.

vwinter, I don't think it supports que but that is ok.
Swimsonny, yet another great video.

FAD has certainly improved their packaging since I got my PF's! Love it. I could see these on sale in Harrods!

and yes the really have, would i be wrong in thinking that all FAD stuff like the Heaven line now come in similar packaging as it was so much more premium feeling compared to the Adagio series and the heaven IV.

Also apparently that paper on the box is some fancy Japanese paper that is used only for special occasion, so i am told!

Nice, swim! Can't wait to see what you think of the sound. Take your time with them. Be patient. Their magic will continue to develop over several days.

music, just picked up a pair of HD800. Hoping for a FI-BA-SS and 3003i on steroids.

Wonder if that packaging (on the video) is used only for the PF X or if it's the new packaging for all three (VIII, IX & X). That packaging in the video is indeed beautiful, but I'd be missing the great carrying case that comes with the (older?) PF VIII, IX, FI-BA-SS & Heaven S, which may not look as smart  / premium, but is wonderfully practical.

Great! Have you placed an order or actually received a pair already? (Have you actually had a chance to audition the K3003s, BTW?)

I am wondering the same thing as it was a glorious experience in comparison to the old packings and i am wonder if this is special for the X or a FAD REVAMP!!! I swear i saw a Heaven V in the snake skin like box earlier in this thread or somewhere on the internet!

I agree completely on the case, i had the same one come with the Adagio V and i used to be able to hold and amp, interconnect and the earphones within it easily and was also very protective. This thing looks like some top VERY EXPENSIVE jewellery could be contained in it but, well is a pain to put the earbuds back in and i do not exactly want it be thrown around in my bag making it pretty useless, i can not see why the can not include both of them?

EDIT:

SoundFreaq,

Thanks and yes i am enjoying them for sure but am too honeymooney with them at the moment to form anything solid so will keep listening and keep enjoying. :D

Snatched 'em from the FS thread. Friday, Sat, or Monday will be my lucky days. Shipped USPS Priority today. Any bets?

Much to our dismay, I have not heard 3003 yet. I've read alot though. But I'm know that is clearly no substitute.

Fair enough. And that video filled me with just enough lust to make me dangerous to my wallet. Be careful with your impressions! I a sucker for FAD! tongue.gif

By the way - and I should have made note when and where this happened - but there was a guy that had a 009 rig. And he also had the PF-X. He said the chain was important for the earphone, but when you had it right, the PF-X was just as good or superior to his tastes. Even with the sonic differences, the quality of the PF-X detail, air, soundstage, resolution, etc.. was easily on the 009 level.

Strikes me as odd that in a random thread unrelated to the FAD thread, this guy would make SUCH a statement about such radically different sound experiences.

Makes me want to go all out on a PF-X rig    8 )

That's interesting. I got the small (4 size) Sony Hybrid set which was all that the Sony Store in HK had. I have since seen the larger set. If It get those, I can sacrifice a set of tips to your Frankenstein experiment.

Thanks for the useful video. Not sure about this YouTube generation that takes three minutes to open a box.  ;-)

I think that new PF X case might be okay for home use. I keep my PF IX in a Pelican case at home.

For portable use, the old PF case is still the winner.

Having heard the 009's with a home brew SET amp I would agree with the guy with the 009 rig. But then again I think the Beyerdynamic T1/T5P comes within a hairs breath of the 009 as well.

That was my Heaven VI box.

Actually I really like the new Heaven VI case. It looks like the elegant old Heaven IV cigarette case on the outside but the spring-loaded cigarette holder inside is gone. Instead it is padded for fast loading and excellent protection.
