Thats perfect timing for me.

I am not sure if this site will work in every location but I found a place where you can download WAV of this album
http://www.junodownload.com/products/five-leaves-left/1782901-02/
Also. It should not be too hard to find in used or new in independent record stores if that works for folks. Its worth buying, everyone has to have at least one Nick Drake album in their collection wink.gif

By the way, I was able to buy the disc on Amazon, and get a 320 DL of it for free. $10 for the whole thing.

I heard the first 6 seconds of it when it started auto-playing in amazon. Sounds VERY promising. I want to listen now! But I shall refrain : )

I have so many favourite songs on this album!

Guys, it is is difficult for me to coordinate timing out here, doubly because of my constant travel. So I will just follow the recommendations with interest.  :-)

Great idea, guys! I am going to try and join in too. I am 5 hrs. behind London time.

One suggestion, would it be helpful to know what people are using upstream from the PFIXs? For a baseline comparison we could all use a DAP or computer.

An idea for the future that might be fun would be to compare amplifiers/dacs etc. using a test recording, such as one of the Chesky albums on HD Tracks. Just a thought. I have a new Pico Power Amp coming in, for example, which I am looking forward to trying with these.

I was thinking about this. Obviously it will be hard to find a time that works for everyone. But you can still obtain the album and listen on your PF IX and post your impressions whenever is convenient.

So, you're on the East Coast USA?

The upstream equipment definitely matters. I will probably listen on my Cavalli Audio Liquid Glass. Or maybe I should keep it in the portable realm with CLAS> P-51.

So, I got my days confused. Will not be available til maybe 6pm Saturday. That's 4p for Ian, and potentially 7p for Riddle. Work for you guys?

I think that would be midnight for riddle if he is in London but yeah that works for me!
i have a couple of options for listening, the full rig, PF/TU-05/HM-801 or HM-801/PF.
I think it might be fun to run the best that we have. That way we can see what our individual rigs add or subtract from the experience.

I've decided that I jumped the gun in saying I'd like to participate. I remain very interested in reading everyone's reactions to what will no doubt be some wonderful music, but I really don't want to spoil the cohesiveness of PF discussion by chiming in with my LCD-2 impressions. :-)

I predict everyone will graciously encourage me to stay in, but I'd really rather take a spectator's role.

Have fun!

:-)

I'm in Ontario, Canada ...... 5 hours behind London time.

SoundFreaq, interesting about the Liquid Glass. I met Cavelli a few years ago at CanJam in Chicago. His Liquid Fire (?) prototype was being used by the Audeze guys at their table.

I tried using my RWA Isabellina last night and there was a significant hum, so I can only use the DAC section which has 2 different chips. My only other full size amp., the AT-HA5000ANV worked well with them.

Timing will be difficult for me. I will get the album and if I am home in time participate, otherwise I look forward to your impressions.

I tried the only portable amp. I have, the Total BitHead, with both the PFIXs and FI-BA-SS and the treble on the PFIXs sounded off to me. I have no idea why though. With the FI-BA-SSs, it sounded fine. For both I used my iPod Classic (160GB) and a LOD called SendStation. One obvious benefit of an amp. is having better volume control, which is always an issue for me with iPods generally.
