Also Dimitri mentioned some discounts to be had at the meet!
"Musica will be featuring Show-time specials for PFX, PFIX, New Heaven V, Heaven VI, and many more items. Dear headfier will receie Discounts and receive gifts as well.
We are also looking for reviewers to write for us on our Blog, just like you did. We will be looking for reviewers for Ortofon new MHD-Q7 portable analog amp and many more."

As per usual, normal disclaimer, no connection with Musica other than satisfied customer!

Wish I were in the neighborhood. Would love to compare the X with the IX.

Oh of course everyone hears them differently. And you not liking them is A-ok. Perfectly cool. They are such a strange headphone to like in so many ways.

I think what woodcans is referring to, is that there are many instances, in this thread, of people not liking them or understanding them at first, and then coming to love them with more listening time. This was my case. But to be fair it was not always the case. Shane spent some serious time with them and never grew to like them. Secretly, I really wanted him to, but that's beside the point. Many never like them.

woodcans and I both grew to love them over time.

Will chime in here as well, the great thing is we are all different and if you don't like the sound brand A makes there is always the rest of the alphabet. I do think as well ear fit is critical with these, I often think that perhaps large ear openings, I mean really big might not be a good thing as if I push mine in and hold them the sound is awful and is muddy then I agree but normal fit, well, you all know what I think biggrin.gif

i played around with the fit and agree that if you push them in too far they sound even worse. wink.gif even tho they didn't feel secure, they were comfortable. thanks for letting me gatecrash the party boys. smily_headphones1.gif

No worries up late, it is good to balance opinions for folks who don't have these, they are not a, Ahem, a casual purchase after all rolleyes.gif

I think the 'problem' with shotgunshane is that he's a bit too fond of Van Halen.  ;)

Hey spkrs01, just noticed your edit!

With all due respect, james444 should be at the very top of your "thank you!" list. Not joking here—not at all, not one bit—if it hadn't been for him, chances are none of the people you thanked would have got their FADs in the first place (or would have discovered them much later) and come to deeply appreciate the sonics of these most peculiar (and wonderful) phones.

Well if anything, then shigzeo should be credited with bringing those funky FADs on us in the first place.

I can still remember my first reaction when I heard them...

Maybe, but don't Van Halen sound roughly the same as King Crimson (on a bad day)? very_evil_smiley.gif

You can bash the PF's, but not Eddie!

(Re-)Eddieit: HDTracks 24/96 of VH's Studio Albums sounds excellent downright awesome on the IX's. One caveat, the bass is low in the mix, but this is the recording, not the PF's.

You know, it could well be the other way round, KC often sounding like VH on a very bad night.

Don't worry, woodcans, you're absolutely fine. shotgunshane's VH 'problem', however, only applies to him.

In a rare moment of artistic inspiration combined with a rare moment of free time I captured this photo. No photoshopping or editing.

Nicely done sir. I like the juxtaposition of the color with the "vintage" aspect of the earphone sonically. Like the earphones themselves, this picture is unconventional in its composition given the sound of the PF. Aside from the philosophical critique, the photo itself is well done.

Actually do you mind uploading a full-rez version? Might be my new desktop wallpaper :)
