Ian, RiddleGuy,

Looks like we are the ones that are going to be able to do the synched listening tomorrow at 6pm CST. So, my first vision of this whole thing was being able to comment in real time about certain aspects of the music or the earphones that struck us.

What's the best medium for this? I think that would be a bit much for Head-fi, unless we post summaries at the end (which I think we should do), but that defeats the purpose of the synched listening. And I really want Ian's comments in real time, since this is his album, and it's a such a special one.

Should we start a PM thread? Seems too slow. Is there like an old-school chat room service around these days? Just found this. With this review about it.

Ideas guys? Seems like that might work for us... And then we can post summaries to head-fi after the fact to share with others who want to listen on their own time.

I'm so glad to be able to listen to this album for the first time, through the PFIX, and with someone to whom this album is dear, and very familiar : )

I like that idea with the chat, will set it up with the same name as my forum name here.

I tried sending riddleguy the album but it would not work so I suggest he uses the youtube link i gave as though not perfect it should be a reasonable enough version to enjoy the album.

So 4:00pm my time tomorrow it is! So looking forward to what you think of the album and its suitibility for the PF's or any other headphones (Mike!) L3000.gif

They are both very similar. Very similar sonic signatures. "Worth it" is entirely up to you. The Heaven VI is a touch more refined, and has, to me, with my tips (FAD small Type B), a slightly larger soundstage. To me, that is worth the $150 difference. I am glad I have both, but if I had to pick just one, I'd be picking up the Heaven VI.

What criteria are most important to you in an earphone? Ergonomics, microphonics, comfort - are exactly the same.

Hi SoundFreaq

What I like most about my Heaven IV, is the tight bass and the presentation of vocals that is only bested by Nail 2 V2.

I know it's supposedly the most "mainstream" model, but I like that FAD "magic", which no amount of drivers can compensate for.

Completely spot on. I think with the Heaven VI you get tad bit tighter bass with a touch more refinement, and I'll have to listen again, but I feel like the Heaven VI has slightly more sub-bass. The slightly larger soundstage, to my ears, opens up the vocals even more. They both definitely share the FAD magic, even if they are versatile little earphones. Very impressive what they can do with that single armature. The Heaven VI put my Westone ES5 out to pasture.

What's the cheapest option to buy Heaven VI outside of going to Japan?

Dimitri at Musica Acoustics has excellent customer service, and fast shipping. You may be able to find them cheaper at Price Japan, but you might wait longer.

They want 645$ plus shipping, AccessoryJack has it for 530$ with free worldwide shipping.

Compared to the 370$ it costs in Japan, both are unnecessarily expensive.

At PriceJapan, the quote is 467$ and they add another 3.5% on top for payment through PayPal for a total of 483$.

Any cheaper options?

As woodcans pointed out, musica acoustics has the sale on the gold version of Heaven VI at 468$ plus shipping.
Or does it have the free EMS option as it did during the April sale?

For Heaven 6, you can get from Amazon Japan, 409.19. Then use the Tenso mailing service to mail to you for about $20-$30.

For information on using the Amazon Japan/Tenso service give it a search on the forums, many other members have used it.

If the question is the cheapest option, that is still Price Japan. Both Heaven VIs are listed on the site (CC and G). There is a delay with Price Japan because they purchase online and then reship. It's a good service in my view. I have purchased FAD IEMs from them twice - PF IX and Heaven VI. No problems.

There's a brief comparison against the IV and VI and general musings on FAD.

Great read, MF. Very informative. I am really enjoying the Heaven VI and I think that you capture its qualities well. It is interesting that it has more bass impact than the IV and V. I do find the bass to be quite good. Sometimes I will EQ it up by 1.5dB in Rockbox and then the VI does Who's Next and other hard rock quite capably. It truly excels on vocals, acoustic instruments, and simpler arrangements where the timbre of individual instruments can be just striking.

That's nothing some Botox can't fix.

That's incredibly dramatic. I was expecting weeks to months for a difference. Not days...

You and me both. Photos don't really show it but there are differences in areas that touch my ears and so on. It's like a fingerprint.

Pretty cool stuff. I have no idea how this will end up or if I should be treating it in some way or with something. Any brass experts in the house/club?
