Final Audio Design Appreciation/Discussion Thread - Page 100

Is it strange for me to feel that the Piano Forte line is Final Audio's most unique IEMs in terms of form? These photos really do these IEM justice.

They are the most unique in form for sure. They way they just sit in your ears is such a different experience.

But their unique traits din't stop there.

Letting my beloved Heaven VI go. I may surely regret that. Jumping on the 1plus2 train.

Thank you very much for sharing. Truly beautiful music! Although it might take a few more listens before I am convinced that FI-BA-SS is better for the job. And yes, my seal is good.

After several listens (from start to finish) with each, I must concede. The FI-BA-SS wins.

I was wondering, how can a complete newbie like me take pictures as beautiful as yours? ....I wish I had a proper camera...sadly, I don't...so I use my ipad. rolleyes.gif

yeah, I feel like I'm pouring cold water on a luv in. wink.gif anyways, I gave the piano forte lX and Vlll another try. so much for burn-in. they sounded pretty much the same to me. also got to hear the X. my opinion of how these phones sound hasn't changed but I still dig them as audio jewellery. wink.gif

I say:

the fi-ba-ss amazed. a hyper-resolving phone that pulls-up short in the bottom end. kudos to fad for making such radically different sounding phones.

sorry folks but using the quote function is giving me grief. frown.gif

I think it was Ian who said it's good to have differing opinions, especially with this phone, and I agree.

To clarify, my quote was specifically referring to the wonderful guitar track from music. It was not a generalization regarding the two phones. Overall, I agree for the most part with others here who have described the two phones and their differences much better than I can.

No worries at all, it was my post that needed clarification.

I am afraid I can give little direction. I have no true experience in 'real' photography, other than taking  autofocus/autoexposure photos of my kids. I wouldn't even call myself an 'amateur photographer'. I do have a reasonably nice DSLR (although it is several years old at this point), which was necessary for the images I took. Other than that, what I have posted were largely experiments in lighting, focus and exposure.

For those unfamiliar with the Piano Fortes, here's a few things everyone considering these phones should know:

  1. They need a minimum of 12, 652 hours of burn-in to begin to open up.
  2. Recabling is a must and only pure silver, gold, platinum and diamond cables will do the trick.
  3. Only Hi-res files can be used, always using a MacBook Pro with Amarra software.
  4. Only a $4000+ DAC and $8000+ desktop amp will do — pure silver/gold/platinum/diamond interconnects are absolutely essential.
  5. Experimenting with a minimum of 30 different tips or tip mods will always help. (yes, there are ways to mount all manner of tips on the PFs)
  6. If still not getting reasonably decent SQ, better get a fake pair of PFs — these are said to sound significantly better than the real thing.

The FI-BA-SS:

-- No burn-in required
-- No recabling
-- A Clip will do it justice.
-- No amp or DAC required.
-- No aftermarket tips or tip mods necessary.
-- Beware of fake FI-BA-SS sets as they will sound like a genuine pair of PF.
