The dogpad doesn't affect the mdr's sound that much. It's a lil better but nothing dramatic like I was hoping for. Comfort however is much improved and I see these dogpads lasting me a whole lot longer than the 7506 stock pads. They also feel much more over-earish now which I like. Can't believe I resurrected an old classic, my first dj headphone.normal_smile%20.gif

Huh? I respectfully disagree.

Well these are just initial results so far. It's been years since I heard my 7506's. I was going to sell them but figured I wouldn't get much so I threw them in my closet. The dog pads are def. a big improvement comfort wise, that's for sure. I have also heard that the 7506's and v6's have gone through allot of changes over the years. Maybe the pads don't make that much of a dif. sq wise on the older models. Probably need some more time a-bing them but the stock 7506 pads have lost all of there pleather.

I think Matt thought you were referring to the Mad Dog's with the dog pads.

Oh crap my bad. Sony mdr-7506's with dogpads only. I don't think the 7506 pads are big enuff to wrap around the t50rp. Dogpads on the t50rp do make a big dif. over stock t50rp pads. Def. dif. headphones.

The fact is the MD's will never be LCD's. You can resign yourself to living with the MD's cos they're a lot cheaper and have that inherent planar warmth and timbre but never fool yourself that they're LCD's. To get that level of quality you just have to man up and pay the price tag of the LCD's.

People seem to enjoy fooling themselves on here.

I as I worker in a country where I get paid more than $50/month just a little more and sure I do not have enough money to buy high-end audiophile gears but hope to purchase the best that I can afford. When I heard and read a lot of reviews state that Mad Dog is really a potential headphone that looks like a mini LCD-2. I smile and hope that at least that something I can buy and be happy with it. Surely I never expect Mad Dog could be a LCD-2 with $300 but I admire what Dan could do with his headphones, mod them to become something better and better everytime with suitable price.

^^ For anyone who owns a business and offers a product or service, this is what keeps you humble. Sure lot's of guys here are able to afford a flagship hp and some more than one. But for many of us, it's all about saving to get the best sound for what we can afford and save for.

Many of us will never have the money for an lcd2 much less an lcd3. But to just get into the same neighborhood as that sound signature at less than a third of the cost is an admirable feat.

I'm not calling the MD an lcd2 killer or equivalent...just a damn good hp and quite possibly the best bang for the buck out there.

I respect that, but don't believe all the hype. The MD'S are voiced similarly but that's it.

I would say the Mad Dogs are priced quite nicely for their performance and really are great bang for buck. The LCD-2's are great but I honestly don't think they're worth paying their retail asking price for.

What I mean is: the LCD-2's are definitely better but not - at this point in Australia at least - $1000 better.
