That's nice you have got them tuned in. I think the he-500 and lcd-2 are the best bang for your buck in the 1k world though.

Just pulled the trigger on the MD. Should be on its way to Singapore soon.:-) My first close back phones. Can't wait. Any recommendation on the headphone cables?

tot Mr Speaker is coming up with new cables?

My bad, I meant mid oriented music.

What's wrong with EDM, jib? Plenty of amazing EDM out there. Hope you're not being closed minded.

As for the MD being WAY better than the D7000... sure, if you live in opposite world, but the D7000 remains as my favorite headphone of all time, as still the most engaging headphone I have ever heard.

I greatly prefer the D7000 over the MD (and basically everything else) in everything except mids and isolation. But better is purely subjective, and I don't like spewing hyperbole like "WAY better". They're quite different. The D7000 doesn't behave like a typical closed headphone and is fun oriented. Apples vs oranges.

I do think the MD is in most manners, better than the Pro 900 and 770s however, but again, they cater to different things.

Yup. The balanced phone comes with a cable we designed ground up. 22AWG quad core.

The regular phone will have an option for a single ended version of the cable, but that won't be included with the base product, it costs too much. Price is tbd and availability is going to be several months.

I love we'll done EDM on these. Fun!

Listening to AES Dana POLLEN right now and it is great...

The MD is a sheer joy with EDM. I particularly like Chillstep, and the MD does not disappoint.

I'd like to hear a head to head comp with the ESP 950;)

My current setup is:

Foobar (WASAPI) -> Modi -> Magni -> Mad Dogs

I only have low volume problems on relatively quiet music (the version of Adele - Skyfall which I have is one example - maxing the Magni, the volume is still ridiculously low). For other music, I have to increase volume to 3-4 o'clock for the volume to be loud enough.

Actually, maxing out the Magni is essentially only uncomfortably loud when playing highly compressed modern music (ex. pop/dance)

I think the MD would be more enjoyable than the ESP950, though not as technically accurate.

The ESP950 is a wonderful electrostatic, but it's a bit safe sounding, and a bit soft hitting in comparison.

The MD is more engaging to me. I think the ESP950 is a masterful headphone for acoustic, and less aggressive genres, IMHO. The soundstage is leaps and bounds ahead of the MD too, but that's to be expected.

The MD has better depth and imaging, for sure. Immersion is a total victory for the MD.

Oh, and yes, I'm gonna have to redo my Mad Dog review on the gaming guide, because it may as well been another headphone.
