a wash of the face, around the ears....

alcohol swipe on the leather,

start your session..turn on the fan,

alcohol swipe again, store the can in a soft linen bag.

dun really have to oil the leather, those oozing out from the face works fine.

I can hear it sometimes. Could it be a small upper-mid suck-out? I have no idea.

I'm torn between the following 2 choices:
- either wait for the European modder to upgrade from 3.0 -> 3.2;
- or sell my pair and get the balanced version to pair with the NFB-27 (standalone).

Tough choice biggrin.gif
Either way, I want more upper mid energy \o/

I do feel that is still a bit closed sounding, unfortunately. I'm too used to open headphones, and the MD just sounds boxed in compared to all the recent open cans I have used.

Hard at work finishing the cable prototypes.  It's a 4 conductor twisted configuration, same setup for balanced and single ended cables.

The connector on the center balanced phone is a HiRose style, which is how we'll terminate the balanced unit.  The cable is our own design, this isn't the final housing, the production cable had to be more flexible and less microphonic than these prototypes.

On the right you can also see the prototype single-ended 1/4" cable, which I happen to be listening to now (this cable will be an optional upgrade, will work with current phones, and won't be ready for several months due to the difficult right angle connector.

That right-hand stack looks just like (one of) my stack(s) !

Hey Dan,

For clarification.  Are you, or are you not doing dual entry on your balanced configurations?  Better yet, are they hard wired.  Doesn't look like for here, but I could be wrong.biggrin.gif

It's hard to believe that this thread started less than a year ago. How far the MD's have come in that same period of time. It's been good fun, great listening and I'm happy to have discovered them.

I would propose an FAQ section in the front of the thread linking important questions, videos ect for those interested in finding out more about the MD. And who could pen this important addition to the MD thread...hmm. I nominate Dan. wink.gif It's not like he's got much on his plate. rolleyes.gif

Oh, MLE I just want to go on the record after reading your comments and say this, "told you so." tongue.gif

That's how the picture shows it.

The LCD2 still has a noticeably larger and open sounding compared to the MD. I still don't find soundstage to be a strength of the MD, but again, I don't find it to be a strength on any closed headphone other than the 770s and D7000 out of the ones I have used.

To update, I just spent like 2 hours gaming with the MD, and I'm immediately noticing better positional cues and better depth than before. If ANYTHING, the scores on my guide will have to change.

Should add options for dual entry and mini XLR's installed. And lastly, since you're using

that techflex sleeving (seemingly so), colors should be offered.
